The Interior Architecture and Product Design Technology Group began in the spring of 2002 as a way to support, physically and financially, the department owned technology available for student use. As fiscal crises remain ever present, it became necessary to enact certain policies and people to proactively support and maintain student plotting, printing and technology resources. A Technology Officer was then added to the IASC Executive body, who would also serve as the Director of Operations for the Technology Group. In addition, a Director of Accounting was also created as a separate position in order to negate conflict-of-interest issues inherent with collecting and administering fees. The total operation is then supported through a network of studio representatives, and overseen by a dedicated IAPD faculty adviser.
Purpose:
The Interior Architecture and Product Design Technology Group exists to serve the constituent students and faculty of the degree program. It is charged with the task of organizing and arranging the purchase and maintenance of department printing/plotting technologies, their ancillary materials (paper, ink, etc.) and any publicly available hardware (Viz Lab). Additionally, its volunteer members seek to offer support to students regarding use of available software and hardware as their abilities allow. Any fees collected go directly toward these goals. ALL funds collected shall only be allocated for technology related items for the full benefit of all departmental students, faculty, and staff.
