Christopher Koroknay received a Bachelor of Technology in Architectural Science from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Since 1994, he has been the director of studios at Yabu Pushelberg, a retail and hospitality interior design firm.
From 1993-1994, Koroknay was director of interior design for Movenpick Restaurants. He was also self employed with Koroknay Design from 1992-93; a partner and principal at Dibon Koroknay and Brehn from 1989-1992; a project coordinator with Holman Design, an exhibit and display contractor, from 1984-1986; and a draftsperson with Yabu Pushelberg from 1981-1984.
Yabu Pushelberg creates distinctive signature environments for a diverse and often high profile clientele. An inspired studio that brings forth artistic and unique solutions for its clients in the pursuit of a universal language, Yabu Pushelberg’s mark is to cultivate original and creative content rather than simply giving aesthetic form to ideas. Its collaborations are borne of a particular and distinctive synergy shaped to suit the commissions’ design and functional objectives. The outcome is of meaningful significance, both thought provoking and enduring in originality.
With studios in New York and Toronto, Yabu Pushelberg is comprised of 70 culturally diverse, design, technical and project management personnel who provide seamless creativity, leadership and structure. At its core, Yabu Pushelberg offers a full scope of design, technical and project administration services as well as project, co-related endeavors such as graphics and communication, and art consulting.
Since 1980, the Yabu Pushelberg portfolio has included projects of varying scale, completed internationally. As such, the firm’s approach has always been of a more far-reaching perspective including collaborations with some of the worlds leading entrepreneurs, hotel groups, retailers and innovators. Select clients in these genres include: Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt International, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Peninsula Hotels, MGM Mirage, Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany & Co., Carolina Herrera, Lane Crawford and Piazza Sempione.
Partners George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg were named Designer of the Year by Contract magazine, and have also been inducted into the Interior Design magazine Hall of Fame.
