WES CROSBY is a designer who understands the balance between creating spaces that are pleasing to the client and designing spaces that work. "Wes has a way of quickly assessing the needs of each audience and providing a customized approach to the client's needs," said Marilyn Brewster, Associate Vice President for Interior Architecture at HNTB. "We are truly fortunate to have a talent such as Wes Crosby on our design team." Wes received a number of honors and awards while completing the Bachelor of Interior Architecture. He was a member of Tau Sigma Delta architecture honor society and also won second-place honors in Architecture Digest's International Student Design Competition. Wes rounded out his career at K-State as a summer intern for General Design, Inc., an architecture and design practice in Branson, Missouri. He later joined Steelcase as an intern and helped design the NeoCon showroom in Chicago and the Steelcase corporate penthouse in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After graduation, Wes went to Springfield, Missouri, where he worked for the firm of Pellham Phillips Hagerman. During his tenure, Wes led award-winning design teams in development of corporate, theatre, church and collegiate environments. In 1997, Wes joined HNTB headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. As Director of Design for Architectural Interiors, Wes is engaged in a number of innovative projects, including over 500,000 square feet of new space for the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Kansas City's Crown Center. He has also designed several Shook Hardy & Bacon satellite offices across the country. Wes has designed new and renovated office spaces for the law firm of Polsinelli Shalton and Welte, and this fall he has begun work on the new 130,000 square foot corporate headquarters for Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin. Other clients have included Sprint, Arthur Andersen, Accenture, and the Metropolitan Washington DC Airport Authority. Wes is professionally credentialed by the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) and has won numerous design awards, including those from the American Institute of Architects and American Society for Interior Design. "Being selected as one of the 2002 Alumni Honorees was a very pleasant surprise and a wonderful honor. I hold my school and its faculty in very high regard, so I truly appreciate this recognition," Wes shared. A native of Branson, Missouri, Wes is proud to be known as a K-Stater among his peers. He carries on the strong tradition of design excellence that has propelled the Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning and Design to the list of top design schools in the United States. |
