THOMAS WAGGONER still a Wichita high school student when he began his career in architecture building models and filing product catalogues at Law/Kingdon Architects. While enrolled in the Department of Architecture, he found part-time employment in Manhattan with GS Architects and was an intern in Hartford, Connecticut with Jeter, Cook and Jepsen. During his final year, Waggoner was selected co-editor for Volume 4 of OZ, the Journal of the College. The issue explored relationships of old and new in architecture and included articles by Robert Geddes, Susana Torre, Stanley Tigerman, Tod Williams and Richard Scofido. After graduation he gained a broad range of professional experience in Kansas City with HNTB and Gastinger Rees Walker. Since joining the Kansas City office of Ellerbe Becket architects in 1988, he has been Senior Project Architect for the Paramount Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York and for the new Washington Redskins Football Stadium. In addition to participation in several AIA Kansas City committees, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Society of Architectural Historians, Waggoner has taken part in the Mentor Program for fifth-year Department of Architecture students studying in Kansas City at Epperson House on the campus of UMKC. |
