JUDI E. BAUER, a graduate of Derby, Kansas, high school, has a passion for learning.

During her fourth year in the Bachelor of Architecture program, she interned at Kansas City firm Gastinger Rees Walker Architects. Judi was selected by the architecture faculty to receive the Donald R. Hollis Memorial Award, given annually to a fifth-year student showing outstanding promise for professional success. During her final year, she served as a student instructor in architectural graphics, assisting third-year students strengthen their understanding and skills in graphic communication. Her thesis project, "A Camp on Cat Lake, Colorado," was featured in Volume 7 of OZ, the journal of the College of Architecture and design.

Upon completing her degree in 1984, Judi continued her education by enrolling in KSU's Boston Architecture Summer program before returning to Kansas City and employment with Gastinger Rees Walker. From 1989-90, Judi gained large office experience by moving to The Callison Partnership of Seattle. After a period of self employment and travel, Judi relocated to New York City to again focus on her education, receiving the Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University in 1992.

For the past year, she has been employed with James Stewart Polshek and Partners of New York where, as project architect, she has worked on an addition to the Cooper Hewitt Museum, the renovation of the Ed Sullivan theatre for the David Letterman Late Night Show and a new open air theatre for the Santa Fe Opera.

A registered architect in Missouri, Judi was a very active associate member of the American Institute of Architects Kansas City. She is presently working on a private residence in Andover, Kansas, with husband and fellow Alumni Honoree Jonathan R. Knight.
