TIMOTHY S. RORVIG, a native of Havre, Montana, received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 from Montana State University. He entered KSU's Master of Landscape Architecture program with a strong desire to enhance his professional capabilities in landscape planning/design. Rorvig proved to be an excellent designer and technician who quickly caught concepts and carried them through to production in a seemingly relaxed and effortless manner. A leader who was well respected by and always went out of his way to help fellow students, Rorvig has used those same traits to work his way up to a position as a key design leader at Johnson Johnson & Roy/inc. of Ann Arbor, Michigan. His experience there includes campus, hospital, public agency and corporate activities ranging from the preparation of analysis and framework plans to conceptual and final design implementation documents. Rorvig's skills provide a necessary service to clients by realistically representing design alternatives graphically, allowing clients to more clearly visualize available options to reach the most appropriate conclusions. Coordinating with other design disciplines such as engineering and architecture, Rorvig has been involved in a number of master planning efforts ranging from botanical gardens to urban corridor studies. His responsibilities have included the preparation of inventory and analysis documents, framework plans and design guidelines, as well as summary reports and construction drawings. Current projects include master planning and site design for the new Chrysler Headquarters located in suburban Detroit, Michigan; work for the U.S. Navy which is consolidating its Washington, D.C., Navy Yard operations at a waterfront site on the Anacostia River; and restoration of the formal gardens originally designed in 1930 at the historic Rochester Hills, Michigan, residence of the Dodge family, currently in use as a museum and convention center. Rorvig demonstrates his on-going interest and support of KSU's landscape architecture program, serving as a positive role model for current students and assisting them as they seek employment. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
