MARK CHANEY is President of Mark Chaney Computer Graphics with offices located in New York, New York. Originally from Jefferson City, Missouri, Chaney transferred from the University of Missouri to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture degree at KSU. As an upper-level student, Chaney served as a teaching assistant for structural design courses and as editor of Volume 8 of OZ, the award-winning student produced journal of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design. His service to the profession as a student was recognized with selection as the recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi Leadership Award presented annually during commencement. Eventually fully realized through creation of his own firm, Chaney's entrepreneurial spirit and strong interest in business and organizational activities were readily evident as a student. Electing to take part in the Department of Architecture undergraduate internship program, Chaney diligently and ultimately successfully pursued a position with Kohn Pedersen Fox and Associates, P.C., an award-winning firm to which he returned upon graduation. As a project architect there with an emphasis in computer aided design (CAD), he was involved with several large scale urban projects including the Shearson Lehman Hutton Headquarters and the Rockefeller Plaza West Office Building, both in New York, New York, and the St. Paul Companies Headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. He worked on projects in Japan, Korea and Taiwan as well. Chaney returned to school and received a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in 1992. His drawings have been published in various architectural monographs, and his renderings have been exhibited widely including such locations as Paris and New York. Periodically returning to KSU to instruct his former teachers, Chaney speaks on various MicroStation topics at workshops around the country and has had written work published in a variety of architectural and CAD publications including Sites and Microstation Manager. He is a registered architect in the state of New York.
